Check that doors and windows are locked before arming your security system.

Don’t leave animals in protected areas as they will trigger the alarm (unless provision has been made for pets).

Clean dust and cob webs away from detectors often.

Don’t cover or block your detectors.

Leave internal doors open to maximise the area your detector covers.

Don’t leave windows open on windy days as air currents cause false alarms.

Spray some surface insecticide around your detectors (not on them) to prevent spiders etc. from crawling on or in detectors causing false alarms.

Never set your alarm off ‘to check the response’ as this will effect the response of subsequent alarms.
